Why your best video is invisible: captions, subtitles and AI
· 4 min read

A video can be excellent and almost nobody sees it. Not because it is bad. Because the caption says "summer vibes" and nothing else.
Who reads what
Every system that can put your hotel in front of a stranger reads text first. TikTok search reads the caption, the subtitles, the text on screen and whatever is said out loud. Instagram does the same. And the AI tools people now ask before booking a trip, ChatGPT and its equivalents, answer from the text that exists about you out there.

"Dream stay" describes nothing. It matches no search at all.
"Small boutique hotel in Naoussa on Paros, ten minutes from the beach, ideal for couples in September" matches dozens of real searches. The shot did not change. Who can find it did.
The four rules
First. Subtitles on every video. They are not an extra for people watching without sound. They are half the text the algorithm reads.
Second. Write the caption as an answer to a search. Think about what the guest you want would type, and write that sentence.
Third. Few and specific hashtags. Eight targeted ones do more work than thirty generic ones. The destination, the area, the type of trip.
Fourth. The words go to the creator before they shoot, not after. The name of the area and the landmarks around you have to be said out loud and written inside the video.
Why this matters for AI too
When someone asks an AI "where should I stay on Paros for a quiet holiday", the answer comes out of whatever text exists publicly. A hotel that shows up in videos with proper captions, on pages with a proper description and in creator content, gives the model something to recommend. A hotel with "summer vibes" does not.
On easyInfluencer.travel every property has a public page written for exactly this job, and the brief the creator gets includes the words that need to be said. Content works when it can be read.

Why does nobody find my hotel's video on TikTok?
Usually because there is no text to read. TikTok search reads the caption, the subtitles, the text on screen and whatever is said out loud. A "summer vibes" caption matches no search, while a description carrying the destination, the area and the audience matches dozens.
How do you write a good caption for a hotel?
As an answer to a search. Think about what the guest you want would type and write that sentence, for example "small boutique hotel in Naoussa on Paros, ten minutes from the beach, ideal for couples in September". Add eight targeted hashtags instead of thirty generic ones.
Why are subtitles needed if the video already has sound?
Subtitles are not an extra for people watching without sound. They are half the text the algorithm reads, and together with the caption they decide which searches the video can appear in.
