Set on the northern coast of Crete, in the fishing village of Bali, the all-inclusive Hotel Bali Beach & Sofia Village lies 18 mi east of Rethymnon and 30 mi west of Heraklion, in one of the island's attractive holiday areas. The complex occupies a 12 acre plot in the centre of the village, within easy reach of traditional taverns, restaurants, cafés, assorted shops and supermarkets. Accommodation is spread across five buildings. Two stand directly in front of the beach, while the remaining three sit just above, reached by steps and set apart from the village road. A range of comfortable room types is available, all around 328 feet from the popular sandy beach. The hillside setting, traditional architecture and surrounding flowers and olive groves give the property a restful character. A cocktail or snack by the sea, with the breeze coming off the water, is one of the simple pleasures on offer. Water sports staff are on hand for a trip around the bay by water-ski or fun-ride, or for a more leisurely outing by canoe or pedalo, with local charges applying. The sandy beach has a beach snack bar, along with sun beds, gazebos, sun loungers and umbrellas, available for a fee, and food and drinks can be served on the beach at extra cost.
